About

I have recently discovered that I am a Renaissance Soul. In evaluating my interests, I outlined a huge list. Unfortunately, MS Word outlines don’t seem to play nicely with WP right now, so it’ll have to wait until I have a little more time.

I am a writer, graphic designer (can’t leave my web layouts alone – always tinkering…), computer geek, philosopher, cat person, reader, singer, actress, and poet. I’m also snarky, obsessive about spelling and grammar, would love to learn to dance & figure skate, and have a fine appreciation of choreography, whether it be dance or martial arts. I’ve also been complimented on my “beautiful kicks” in martial arts, and I collect paperback books, movies (DVD or downloads – computers are GREAT!), anything with a horse/pegasus/unicorn on it, Disney Princesses (particularly Sleeping Beauty), daggers (want swords but can’t afford them yet) and sparkly things, especially full lead crystal. I’m a peculiar cross of girly-girl and tech geek that leaves most people boggling.I read – a lot. I have an extensive collection of science fiction and fantasy novels (which, oddly enough, I prefer in mass market paperback) and DVDs. I also collect film scores, which I see as the modern equivalent of classical compositions. I have a master’s degree in film and video production, so I know more about it than the average bear, but I’m pretty much freelancing in that regard.I refer to most of my family and friends by labels or psuedonyms. This is because most of them do not wish to be forced into the limelight (web or real world) by their connection with me. Many of them are introverts – it’s not their fault;) I, however, am an extrovert who likes the idea of earning attention through my words and interactions online and otherwise, so the pseudonyms are the screen I use.

I am a person of very strong opinions, but I am intelligent enough to alter my position on issues if the evidence is persuasive. I generally avoid flamewars (though I have been known to lose my head occasionally) but I will not tolerate them in my journal. As a rule, I like logic, not ad hominem attacks.

I don’t login to MySpace very often. (partly because, unlike LJ which keeps me always logged in, MySpace requires me to login again every day I’m on and then tattles on me and tells everyone the last time I logged in;) My IM username (AIM, YIM, MSN/hotmail) is CDLauryl, but I’m not on very often.

Email is the best way to get in touch with me: CDLauryl (at) gmail (dot) com
